A fantastic weekend for Burlesque in Chicago! Countless shows from five local burlesque troupes.
The beauties of Ties & Tassels performed their Crime and Punishment Burlesque and Variety show at Lizards Liquid Lounge. Burlesque performers included Queerella Fistalot, Tom Hill, Dollface, Stella Cheeks, Scarlett Deville, Josephine Shaker, Cruel Valentine, Tamale and Plucky Rosenthal. The night before they wowed the crowds with their Fierce! International Queer Burlesque Festival fundraising show at the Underground lounge. The shows featured Chicago burlesque performers Cruel Valentine, Tito Bonito, Queerella Fistalot and Lee Na-Moo. The next Ties and Tassels show will be June 16th at Lizards Liquid Lounge. Kiss Kiss Cabaret had a Friday night show featuring their regular cast of Coquettes, the Claptrap Family Orchestra, Serenna Starr, Cherry La Voix, Pearl Pistol and Stella Cheeks. This was also the final performance for cast regular and fiery redhead Alexa Luthor. The Kiss Kiss Cabaret performs at the Greenhouse Theater located at 2257 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago IL 60614. Their next show will be on Friday the 25th at 11:00 pm.
Friday night Burlesque shows included A Nude Hope: A Star Wars Burlesque with Marie Curieosity as Princess Leia, Temple of Boobs: An Indiana Jones Burlesque with Sadie Hotkins as Indiana Jones, Geek Peks: The best of Burlesque featuring cast members from all of their shows, and Boobs and Goombas: A Super Mario burlesque with Hazel Hellbender. Saturday night they also had A Nude Hope: A Star Wars burlesque and Superboobs: A Superhero Burlesque Adventure with Slightly Spitfire. The next Burlesque show is the $500 Burlesque contest on Wednesday the 23rd at 9:00 pm.
Fresh from their appearances in the St. Louis burlesque festival the Vaudezilla gals had a Burlesque Bandstand show at the Stage 773. Live music was performed by Steve Marquette and the ROAR-chestra. Saucy Jack was the MC for the evening and the burlesque performers included Wham Bam Pam, Mister Junior, Anita Lilmore, Red Hot Annie, Po' Chop, Booty Garland, Dirty Devlin, Raven Gemini, Titty Perkins, Marci Voussplair, Colette Coquette, and Hedy Wallbanger. This performance also saw the debut of Red Hot Annie's new costume by burlesque costume maven Titty Perkins. Vaudezilla's next show will be Broadzilla! The Burlesque Beast at Exit on Friday, May 25th. Burlesque shows will start at 10:30 pm and 1:00 am. Exit is located at 1315 W North Ave in Chicago IL.
The stunning ladies of the 1901 Gallery performed their Guilty Pleasures: Songs we Love to Hate show in their In the Dark series of burlesque shows. This weeks show featured burlesque performers including, Miss Vine, Sultry Susan, Bizarre Sally, Spiffy Kins, Red Rum, Queerella Fistalot, Bella Bathory, Scarlett DeVille, Cleo LaVamp, Titty Perkins, Dollface, Cruel Valentine, Millie May, Mx Yola, Sajula Vamana, Sauda Namir, Rosemary Maybe, Dahlia Fatale and Krysia Jean. The 1901 Gallery will be hosting the June Craft Fairy a monthly gothic arts and crafts faire on Sunday June 3rd. The 1901 Gallery is located at 1901 W Belmont Ave in Chicago IL.
It should also be noted that this week saw the opening of the Bottoms Up Burlesque show Ba Ba Ba Boom at The Joynt located at 650 North Dearborn St in Chicago IL.
