After a short hiatus the Robert Rodriguez inspired El Mari Chi Chi show has returned to Gorilla Tango Theater. The show stars "Geek Girl" Diva LaVida as the revenge seeking, guitar playing and womanizing Mari (Desperado). The show is introduced by Slightly Spitfire as a beautiful and fast talking Quentin Tarantino. Debonair regular Bella Canto also makes an appearance as Mari's love interest, Carolina. The show starts at 7:30 and tickets are $20.00. Gorilla Tango Theater is located at 1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago IL. Gorilla Tango has a beer and wine bar. Street parking is available.
"El MARI CHI CHI has had a fantastic first run," says Gorilla Tango Burlesque Artistic Director MsPixy, "so we're really looking forward to giving them a fantastic send-off on June 16 before they go 'in the vault,' for a while!" El MARI CHI CHI: A LATINO VENGEANCE BURLESQUE, a parody of Robert Rodriguez's Once Upon a time in Mexico and Desperado as well as other Robert Rodriguez films, is concluding its 4 month run of grit, glamour, and glittery guts on Sat, June 16 at 7:30pm in with a last big blow-out show before going on hiatus for a while.
MsPixy elaborates, "Like other Gorilla Tango Burlesque shows that have gone "in the vault," it's not going away forever-- but as we make our scheduling decisions on a month-by-month basis, let's just say this is your last chance for a while to see a drug-lord in pasties execute an fabulous, slow motion, bullet-ridden death-shimmy."
As Gorilla Tango Burlesques says "hasta la vista" to Mari Chi Chi, they're also saying "boy howdy!" to a whole new bunch of wacky new burlesque parody shows.
